OCS2007 IM not working for outside users RRS feed

    My outside users are having a problem with instant messages not working when signing in remotely.  IM is working fine internally as well as video and audio conferencing.  Audio and Video conferencing are working as well for my outside users but for some reason IM isn't.


    The users get an error that states unable to contact the server when sending an IM message from the outside.  I can send a message from the inside to the outside user via IM and they get it.  When they try and reply they get the same unable to contact server error. 


    When I have them dial in using microsoft VPN and connect the OCS client "internally" the im works fine.  This dialin VPN is not always available however and I need them to have IM access at all times.  I am guessing it's a firewall issue and maybe I need to open another port for IM to function.

  • Are you using an Access Edge Server?

  • No, I only have one ocs server and it is stand alone.  I am using port forwarding to forward traffic to the server.
