Windows XP CD Mislaid RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello there.  I am currently in the process of cleaning up my laptop and starting again, but I have lost the Windows XP disc (don't ask me how, as I have no idea), that came bundled with the system.  I have a genuine product key (sticker on back of laptop), but no CD, and I have a feeling that the CD has some sort of Acer-specific stuff on it that may be useful.  If there's any way of replacing my CD at either no or minimal cost, I'd like to hear from you!

Please note that I am a UK user with an ACER laptop, in case either of those points matter.

  • AnalogBoy,

You should contact Acer customer service or tech support as your first option because, IME, generally speaking laptop recovery CDs do indeed have drivers and utilities that are specific to not only the manufacturer but often down to the exact model number of the lappy.
