Folder sync on root drive after redirecting documents folder RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi guys,

Ran in to some trouble last night that i couldn't resolve without reversing what i had done. I had live mesh 2011 installed on a W7 laptop, i synced some folders to skydrive and it works really, most impressed. I have an external drive i tend to keep most files on so i redirected the "documents" folder to help backup , as well as backing up critical data to skydrive using mesh - works great for me. But after i redirect documents to F: drive, live mesh stopped syncing new folders. What it does is, creates the folder on skydrive with the correct name i.e. F:\apps but then creates a new folder called f:\pps on the f: drive, which is of course is empty, and syncs this. I tried everything, reinstalling mesh etc. The only thing that stopped this from happening, is returning the documents folder back to the C: drive. Incidentally mesh would still sync folders in the C: drive correctly.

Anyone had this before? any ideas? am i being an idiot here?

    Many thanks in advance

    ed

Since you are referring to Windows Live Mesh, not Live Mesh - www.mesh.com, you are in the wrong forum.

For discussion of the new Windows Live Mesh (formerly Sync), (as well as the released Live Sync version) go here:

However, there is apparently a bug in the new Windows Live Mesh when synchronizing a top level folder on a source machine - in your case, F:\Documents - it will go to C:\ on all other machines.

I believe that the workaround is to move F:\Documents down a level such as F:\Files\Documents and then you should be able to sync it. You will need to pursue this at the other forum if the above doesn't work for you.
