Ability to change Web Site TCP/IP port number RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there any way to change the tcp/ip port used to access the remote website on Home Server. I also have a webserver running on the network that uses port 80.

Any suggestions or a solution. If there is currently no work around could it be possible to include down the track

  • Yes, there is. You can login to the Administrator desktop, and then press the WindowsKey+R and then type inetmgr and press enter. This will bring up IIS and then expand Websites, and then right click on the default website and click properties and you can change your ports.

  • What you could do is configure a different port forwarder on your router, for example configure port 81 on your external ipaddress and then redirect it to port 80 on your WHS. So you would type http://extenal_address:81 doing it this way means you don't have to risk destabilising your WHS and it helps to hide your box from the outside world.
