Home Server PP1 on an HP EX470
I have duplication turned on on many folders. Yesterday, the storage pie chart showed about 300GB allocated to duplication with about 800 GB free. Today, the pie chart shows only 338 MB (less than a gigabyte) with over 1 TB free. What has happened to all the duplicated folders?
The folders still show duplication is turned on and they still have the same amount of data in them. All three drives in the server show as healthy. No drive changes have been made recently. Of course last night was the weekly backup cleanup, but with 620 GB or so of PC backups, it should have had plenty of space to work with.
I restarted the server. During the restart, i got a message stating that the home server storage manager has encountered an error and that the server should be restarted. After the restart, access to the server was slow and there is a lot of disk activity. It appears from the server storage chart that the duplication is being rebuilt. What has happened here?
Note that the Home server console showed storage balanced this morning after the duplication disappeared. The storage balanced time has not yet updated after the restart, so I guess that is a good sign that the duplication is being rebuilt, although slowly.
Hello,
Please submit a bug for this on Connect. If you are not already registered, please do so by going to Connect and signing up. Once you’ve done that, please join the program and file a bug here.
When you file a bug, please be sure to include server CABs. In order to do that, you’ll need to install the toolkit. There is information regarding how to do that here.
As for investigating what is happening, usually the event logs on the server will provide more information than the console.
Thank you
