create simple script to backup usb drive, reformat and then restore usb drive. RRS feed

  • Question

  • HI.

Not sure if right place to ask this but I would like to create a script within powershell to backup a usb drive, then reformat the drive as a bootable device and then restore the backed up files to it.

I am a newbie at scripting and using this as a tester.

I am concerned about the wrong drive being formatted etc and would like to include a couple of user confirmations to ensure the correct drive is formatted.  I've seen examples of scripts that recognise the usb drive but these seem to work on the premise that only one usb drive is connected.  I want it so that if you have more than one usb drive connected you can select the correct drive.

The rest of my script works fine. I just want that security that the correct usb drive is worked on.
