MS CRM 4.0 Customizations RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I am trying to import a large customization XML file 1.81MB(Zipped version) and 17.9MB(unzipped version) from one tenant to another. First it said it cannot import as it exceeds the maximum allowed length . I increased value of the time-out and Maximum length allowed in web.config of the CRM site as advised by the MS CRM article
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918609
but still the process goes till like 80% and stops.

Please advice on how to go about this.

    Thanks
    Raghu

  • Don't worry about the size of the customizations file, its fine (when compressed).

Export everything, just import it in chunks. It will take care of your relationships as you expect.

  • Hi, Raghu.

Try to split your moving customization process to parts. File will be smaller and you will be able to import it into the CRM.

  • Hi Andrity and Tiaan,

The thing is that I have already tried out the increasing timeout option  and extending the maximum length using the KB article link which I posted in my previous post. I also know about  breaking up the entitiies , like selecting few entities at a time and decreasing the size of the customization XML will allow the import, But the problem is that if I select few entities at time , it clearly pops out a message saying it will not take care of the relationships with the entities which are not selected, that is the reason why I am not able to go about this.

    Thank You
