70-630 elective for mcsd.net? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I have completed the 3 exams of the mcsd.net and would like to finish the 70-310 and the elective exam by march.

In the http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcsd/requirementsdotnet.mspx the exam 70-630 is not mentioned as elective.

however I remmber reading somewhere in microsoft site that a number of exams can be used as elective for the MCSD.NET including 70-630 and the 70-631.

Can somebody help me to verify if the 70-630 can be considered as an elective for MCSD.NET 1.1 track

    thank you in advance
    regards

  • Hi

Unfortunately you cant use the 70-630 as an elective... WSS 3.0 is based on .NET 2.0 so that would defeat the purpose of it. Also 70-630 is a configuration rather than development exam.

I think you are possibly confusing it with the MCSA/MCSE electives which do allow that exam to be taken as an elective.

    Hope that helps

  • As far as I know.. the main exams retire in March 2009.. but I think if you complete those before it retires you can "possibly" get the MCSD.NET

That is if you complete the exams required for MCSD.NET before they retire and then do 70-431 after March, I think you should be able to do it.. but you may want to check with MSL by looking at the following page http://www.microsoft.com/learning/support/worldsites.mspx and emailing your local regional centre

  •  Great

    Thank you for your response.

My choice now is definitly 70-431,

However - do i need to do that before march 2009 or still have time to do it and still get full MCSD.NET.

    thank you all in advance
