CRM Redeployment Error RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am migrating my CRM3.0 Server and database to a new domain.

I have installed SQL Server and restored the database on the new server. I have run the Redeployment Tool to map the users. Then begun the installation of CRM Server.

    It fails with this error...

Action Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Server.AddLicenseAction failed. Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040216

I have checked that there are no rows in the License table, and I am fairly sure I have sufficient permissions (although this may be worth double checking should anyone be able to advise)

So, now I am very much stuck and in a bit of a pickle. Please help!

  • Hi grippakippa,

If you're moving the CRM server to a new domain, you'll need to do the following for CRM 3:

    • Move / install SQL Server in the new domain (as the CRM and SQL Servers have to be in the same domain)
    • If it's a new SQL Server machine copy the MSCRM database to it (I'd use backup / restore)
    • Uninstall CRM
    • Run the redployment tool
    • Reinstall CRM, and take the 'Connect to existing database' option - this will create the AD groups in the new domain
    • Optionally, remove the CRM AD groups form the old domain

i found this at article http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en/crmdeployment/thread/8cf84562-7d04-4a63-985a-9ead33a988ad

have you do above procedure correctly?,

are you migrating my CRM3.0 Server and database to a new domain still in the same computer?, if yes the you need to uninstall the CRM at the old domain first.

and please try to remove the CRM AD groups form the old domain if the redeployment still not worked.

if above information still not give you solution, please try to read this article :

but on this article i'm still not getting what and where remove the entry.

    hopes it can help you.

  • I appreciate your help, although this doesn't seem to work for me.

I've since worked out that this happens only when I try to install onto an exisiting database, i.e. the restored database from my live environment. When I instuct CRM installer to create a new database, I don't get this problem.

However, I still don't understand, as I am ensuring I delete any records in the License table before I start.

    PLEASE HELP!!!
