Cannot get beyond the sign-in after MS-Money re-installation RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've reinstalled MS-Money 2006 under Windows 7 but cannot get beyond the sign-in. When prompted I went to my Microsoft Passport account to change my password but when I enter the new password in MS-Money I still get the message that my sign-in information cannot be verified. Does anybody have an idea? How can I get beyond the MS-Money password when I try to open my file? I have over 10 years of financial history in a file that cannot be loaded. Thanks!

  • You cannot change your Microsoft Money Passport Password.  The servers for that are gone. To get into your file, you must use the email address and password that were in effect when your Money file was saved. Ignore the change of your credentials  that you recently attempted.

Disconnect from the Internet.  Pull your ethernet cable or turn off
our modem -- whatever it takes.  Start Money, click below the
password field to select "I want to sign in to Money directly,
without access to all online services." then click Next.

Once into your file, to File-PasswordManager, and choose to remove your
LiveID (Passport).  Then add a conventional password, which you can change, at

Don't lose your password. Take steps. Keep a copy in a safe deposit box maybe.
