Multiple Wiki Activities in my Profile RRS feed

Answers

  • We've reviewed the logs and in this scenario the only duplicate is the actual display of the activities. Points, achievement counting, statistics were not duplicated. We've identified the bug that caused this duplication on the activity feed and have a fix checked in. That will be deployed with our next release on 2/2.

  • I'm seeing a similar problem when I check several other profiles. All sorts of activities are multiplying.

  • Thank you for bringing this to our attention Richard. If you could send us links to the other Profile's where this seems to be happening that would be very helpful.

    Thanks,

    Tim

  • Sorry, I didn't see your reply until this morning. The problem was about a day ago, so you have to look farther into the activities to see it. In Santhosh's activities, we see three achievements for multiple contributions to the gallery, but he earned that long ago and his most recent achievement is last year:

mjolinor has 10 listings for reply to a thread that starts with "Stop multiple instances", then 10 listigs for reply to "Splitting data", then a bunch more again for the "Stop multiple instances" thread, then another bunch (too many to count) for replies to "Exchange 2010 pop3 connection":

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/mjolinor/activity

AbqBill has 10 replies to "VBScript to parse XML", then 10 listings for marked proposed answer to "Is there a script to get serial number":

10 seems to be a common number in this behavior. I started looking into my activities when I noticed my point total increase by more than 100.

  • I believe my points are fine, but I received two additional Gold medallions for which I have not qualified:

    • Forum Replies V
    • Forum Replies VI.

(And I got the repeated Bronze for proposing an answer.)

  • You would need to have 10,000 forum replies in one day to get both achievements on the same day.

  • Right, which is why I don't qualify for those two medals.  However, the numbers in my profile reveal reality.  It is only the medals that are wrong.

  • I had something similar happen to me a few months ago. I got credit for hundreds of Wiki article edits when I made only one. I got an achievment I didn't deserve. They fixed the bug, but told me they could not take away the achievements. As I recall, it happened to a few others as well.

The basic problem now was reported in these two threads in this forum and they are working on it:

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/Profile/thread/b53ecc67-b529-475c-8359-8a3f24d85d54

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/Profile/thread/0f9e77a6-a037-4c54-88ba-581dba5dcb56

I believe in the meantime I may actually deserve the achievement I got earlier, but there is no way to really tell.
