Internal webcam suddenly not working, Windows 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've had a Sony Vaio laptop with windows 7 for a few weeks now, secondhand, and the internal webcam stopped working a few days after I got the laptop. It originally said in Windows Messenger that I couldn't use the webcam because there was another program using it, which there never was, and in Skype it said Skype did not support this kind of webcam - when it had been working perfectly before. Now I don't even get those messages, as both programs are saying they can't find or recognise the webcam, and under Devices in Control Panel it says the webcam is not recognised and has no driver, and cannot be used or supported on my laptop.

Does anyone know how I can fix this, or is there something I need to download that will make the webcam work? Or a reason for why it's stopped working?

    Thank you !
