Windows 7 SuperFetch will not disable. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

    I am trying to Disable Windows 7 Super Fetch do stop Windows 7 caching ____ that it will never use.

    I have disabled the Windows 7 SUperFetch service and also modified the following Registry keys.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters]
    "EnableSuperfetch"=dword:00000000
    "EnablePrefetcher"=dword:00000000
    "EnableBootTrace"=dword:00000000

    Windows 7 seems to wait 5 mins after I boot then it goes ape filling up my 4GB ram.

    I have used SysInternals RamMap ( http://technet.microsoft.com/en-au/s.../ff700229.aspx ) to see what is in the standby ram and it is useless ____ like zip files that I have extracted and or other files.

    I would rather leave my unused RAM free for games and software development but Windows 7 does not want to allow me to disable the standby ram.

    Thanks In Advance
