PP3 Beta and Real PP3 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm going to be installing Win 7 in a couple of weeks so it looks like I'll want PP3 installed then also.  What will happen when the final PP3 comes out.  Will I have to reinstall WHS and PP3 at that point or will PP3 'finall' install over PP3 Beta?  Will the backups still be intact?

  • Great thanks, that's real painless.  I thought there would be more to it.

  • You will have to uninstall Power Pack 3 beta in order for Windows Home Server to automatically install it when released. It's not likely that it will be available as a separate download, so you'll have to either turn automatic updates on (if they're off) or use the Update Now button in the console.

  • But will the backups from Beta still work?  My main worry is that anything done in beta won't keep for the final version.  Also will this affect plugins that I currently use?

  • Yes, backups will still work, and no, add-ins should not be affected.
