Windows 7 search sucks and sucks extremely RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have folder with 100 subfolders. In that folder I am looking for a file which has letters DO i.e., subfolder name is "gsglj (DO) sjg".

I am on the main folder, go to search and just type DO and the search screen is blank. Then I type *DO and the screen is blank. I try every thing else till I am complaining, abusing microsoft.

I mean come on, I could write a simple batch file program that can do better than what windows 7 can do...

    Any clues here?

And this is not just me. My entire company has the same issues and yes we are all STUPIDS!

  • If the file is on the network, the Windows 7 search does not work on a network. You have to copy the folder to your hard drive or use the "make available offline" feature, which is basically the same thing. Yes, it's unbelieveable but true, in a system that Microsoft markets to huge corporations like mine, the search engin doesn't work on network folders.
