E-mails about billing from Microsoft RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I have received numerous e-mails saying that my one of my services is about to expire, and microsoft have been unable to collect money from my debit card. I cannot respond to any of these mails, instead I am referred to billing manager. Billing manager tells me that my service has expired and to renew I must supply new card details. Nowhere can I find details of which service is about to expire, so how do I decide if I want to renew?????? I have followed all the links in the mails, but there are no contact details provided, and the topics covered do not include my query. Absolutely shocking service from Microsoft, want me to pay, but won't tell me what for!!!!

    Can you help?

  • And, you believe these emails are REALLY from Microsoft?  Are you certain these are not PHISHING emails?

Let's see:  what paid services do you use?  email?  OneCare?

Let's try to understand where these mails are really coming from first.

Also, this is the Microsoft Security Essentials forum.  Security Essentials is FREE.  And your query is not related to Security Essentials.

  • Hopefully, you have NOT given away your creditcard numbers!

Have a look in the following

  • These are genuine Microsoft mails. When I log into my account (not using links in the mails), my inbox has the same message fom Microsoft. I'm sure one of my domains is due for renewal, but I don't know which. There are domains I don't wish to renew. I just need to know how to contact billing for clarification. There is no need to look for scams/ phising here, I just need a contact maill address for biling.

  • Are you saying that you pull your mail (with pop3 for example), and see these emails, and then log on to your mail with the browser and see the same emails?  If so, that still does not mean they are from Microsoft.

I do not believe Microsoft would send "numerous" emails.  I do believe, if they are phishing emails, and you clicked on one of the links, that the sender now knows that he has a "live human" on the other end, and is sending numerous mails to get you to go that one extra step and enter your personal data.

Just a theory, and an opinion.  Still, not an MSE issue, and still the incorrect forum...

  • Yes I pull my mails to a POP 3 account, no these are not phising. Microsoft genuinely want money, how much clearer can I make it????? I know this is not the correct forum, but for god's sake someone must know how to contact billing! I will pay if it is for a domain i want to keep, if not I won't. I just need to find which it is. Does anyone from Microsoft look at these forums? Or are they a complete waste of time?

    Regards

  • John, whenever my domains are about to expire, I suddenly begin receiving renewal emails from a number of different places, none of which I have ever used.  All of them genuinely want money.

I wish you the best of luck in resolving your problem.

https://billing.microsoft.com is where you will see any Microsoft billing/subscription accounts that you have associated with a specific Billing account and also where you can update your payment information for your Billing profile.

  • Thanks Steve, but in https://billing.microsoft.com it merely says I have a service which is due to be renewed on 5/12/09. Again it doesn't say which service, which is why I have been trying to get a contact e-mail for billing.

  • Any subscriptions that you have should appear there, John. Are you in North America? If so, try this number -
