I would suggest:
But I would not do the XP exam anymore If I were you, instead go for the Windows 7 exam (70-680).

WinXP is 7 year old technology. Many companies are starting to switch over to Win7 and Windows Server 2008. Which is better? To be certified in an OS that's 7 years old and close to the end of it's lifecycle, or in the most current OS, which is gaining in it's acceptance and deployment?

Why would you not recommend taking the exam? Will it be completely useless if I took it right now?
