    I recently bought an asus g60vx stating that came with windows 7 home preium as oem, but upon startup of the machine the bottomright tells me that i do not have a geniune copy of windows 7, is there anyway i can resolve this issue short of buying an entirely new copy of windows 7?

  • You can reactivate your Windows 7 installation by performing the following:

    1.  Locate your Windows 7  Certificate of Authenticity affixed to your ASUS computer.

    2. Click on the Start button and in the Search programs and files box type in:  slui.exe 4

    3. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.

    4. Select your Country.

    5. Follow the instructions for phone activation (no charge).

    Your PC would appear to be too old to legitimately use a Windows 7 OEM_SLP License (see the BIOS date). What does the COA sticker on the case (or possibly inside the battery compartment) say the OS is? (it's always possible that it was in the manufacturing line as Win 7 was released, and Asus forgot to reflash the BIOS)
