Notes control is disabled in new entity form crm 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

I've add notes control to Contact form.

When create a new Contact: the notes control is disable. I cannot do anything with it.

But after the Contact is created, the notes control is enable. I can enter a text but cannot save it

    Any idea about it?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

When notes are created, they are associated with a record, Contact in your case. So, when you're about to create the Contact record and your form is a new one, that means the Contact record still hasn't been created. Since the Contact record doesn't actually exist, you cannot associate a Note with it. That explains why the note control is enabled after you save the record. This is applicable for all entities throughout Dynamics CRM.

As for your second concern, where you're unable to save the note; after entering text in the note textbox just click outside. It will automatically save the note.

  • It looks to me like your control didnt load properly.

When putting the cursor in the field as you did... the layout should have changed to something like this:

    Did you try:

    • Different computer
    • Different browser
    • Clearing your browser cache?

If you can confirm the issue on multiple PC's and browser.. I would do a MS Support case if I was you.
