    Did a reinstall of SP2. Have XP Pro. Now I attempt at using OneCare and I get the code that the robot "help" of windows one care can't recognize.

    After I run the install of OneCare it stops 1/2 way through with a "Installation did not succeed. An error has occured during installation.

    Please contact support. 

    I used a clean-up tool to shut down and remove my SpySweeper AV, so it wouldn't get in the way. But, the same waring keeps coming up.

    What to do?

    Found the fix: ran the clean-up exe for the Win.LiveOneCare.

    Ah, I guess that you reinstalled XP over itself and OneCare was still partially installed on the PC.

    Yes, that's what I did. Last time I try this slipstream of XP repair. The SpySweeper and Firewall and AV trip-ups just aren't worth it!  Think I remember reading that a clean install is the way to go with back-up ready on the side about 2 years ago)....but I thought I'd try.

     

    Experience is priceless and memory makes it work.
