  • Question

  • I have recently re-installed Windows XP and now when I try and log on I get a message saying I must activate my copy of XP with MS to continue. I click Yes to active now and I get a screen saying that Windows is already activated. When I click OK I just get sent back to the log on screen!!!

I have downloaded the MGA tool and run this in safe mode and the results show I have a genuine copy. See below. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my system and how to fix it? Thanks

  • Settloe_99,

Hopefully you will be able to start in Safe Mode with networking and visit http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/ to run the diagnostics.

Post back to tell us if you were shown any error messages or were instructed to take any steps.

  • Hi Dan

Now when I try getting into safe mode I get a message saying that my copy of Windows needs Activating and activating can not take place in safe mode so please log on normally and activate it.

    Any other suggestions?

  • Settloe,

Curious what was the solution?  Did they activate Windows over the telephone for you?  Thank you for posting  back and letting us  know all is well.
