Windows 7 and Parallels on Mac - Validation error RRS feed

  • Question

  • After using Windows 7 on my Mac for almost a year, I have started to get an error message saying that my version is not valid.  I ran the tool that Microsoft said to run and got the following report from it:

Did I get taken when I purchased this operating system?  If I have to purchase a new version of windows, can I just load Windows 10 over this, or will I need to reload any programs that I'm using?

    Thanks,

  • The COA_SLP Key in use here is a type which should ONLY be sold attached to a PC which shipped with the associated OS pre-installed.

This machine obviously cannot have had Windows 7 installed at shipping.

OEM Keys are only valid on the machine on which they were first activated - and the indications are that this Key has been discovered to be abused, and MS has therefore blocked the Key.

You should demand a refund from your vendor - and/or pursue a claim through MS's Piracy route.
