Any way to block only remote desktop in Live Mesh? RRS feed

  • Question

  • My school blocks Live Mesh due to its remote desktop functionality.  Is there any way to block only this functionality on a network?

If you want to enable access to the Live Mesh Web experience but disallow Live Mesh clients (Live Remote and Live Folders), you can block HTTP and HTTPS traffic to the following Live Mesh Web sites:
    • Storage.mesh.com
    • Accounts.mesh.com
    • Ag.mesh.com

  • The only article that I am aware of with instructions on how to block the Live Mesh client will block both sync and remote, but will allow access to the web site.

I'm not aware of any way to disable remote desktop, yet allow sync to happen, but that may be as simple as blocking the Remote Desktop Ports. I believe that's 3389 and 3390.
