How to stop having moderators mark questions as answered???

Question
-
Greetings,
When I ask a question, if I don't respond immediately to an answer, some moderator will come along and happily mark the question as answered.
I HATE THIS!!!!!
I even have a signature that indicates that I do mark correct answers.
In some cases, they do mark the correct answer - but I have had a few where they were flat out WRONG. There is no way for me to send a message to the moderator in question to stop doing this either (that would be a cool feature.)
Anyway, where do I go to get the message out to moderators to not just go an marke my questions answered until I have at least had a chance to read the answer first????
Thanks
me (and yes, I DO mark correct answers)

Hi,
It is great that you take the time to mark replies as helpfull or as answer but it is a fact that most (or at least a lot) people are not doing that.
So moderators tend to mark replies that could be an answer in their eyes. They do it to help other people who are looking for help with a question like your question. And it is also a nice "award" for people who reply because they get some points (Not that is really means anything but it is a nice goodie for some people).
From my experience, moderators normaly wait 1 to 2 weeks before marking a thread as answered to give you the chance to mark a reply yourself.
If a reply was marked as answer in a thread where your problem is still not solved, you can always unmark the reply and continue the thread.
So I can only ask you to not be bothered by this marking replies as answer and try to make the best out of it. (Sorry that I do not have a solution how you could get your target that your threads are not handled by moderators. But I hope that I was able to explain a little bit why it is done.)
With kind regards,
Konrad

I agree. The process is that a Moderator should wait a week. The best practice is that the mod should also propose an answer first, as a warning to the asker to return and explain why the proposal is not an answer.
If moderators aren't doing this, please let me know who and where, and I'll see if I can contact them.
You can shoot me an email at edprice at Microsoft.
Thanks!

Ed,
The thing that bugs me the most is when the moderator just picks a reply without really trying to see if it is a correct reply. This is especially frustrating when the reply selected is based on outdated technology indicating that this is still the correct way to solve the problem - when it is not. I don't know how much time I wasted trying to get some code to work, only to find out that the approach was way out of date and there was a newer and much easier way to sovle the problem....
I would prefer that they wait 2 weeks as sometimes we post a question and then get heads down in our work (oh, hey, I found this little bug - could you fix it BEFORE I give this demo to a hot client?)
And last but not least, given that my signature clearly states that I do mark answers, it would be nice if the modertor considered that before blindly accepting whatever answer they felt was best - and maybe wait 2 weeks for people like me.
Also, if you look as some of my posts, I have also ended up providing a much more detailed answer once I found out the right way to do things. But at least the forums allow more than one answer to be an answer - so that is a good thing...
Not to mention that my question was asked on July 9th and your answer was proposed as an answer the same day.... ;)
Thanks for the link. Next time it happens (I mean besides this case) I will be happy to let you know.
