I'm sorry Kate, I posted the link to our activation KB since you must have Windows XP activated before the validation process can start. Problems with activation are not within the scope of our support here in the WGA forums, that is why I was trying to point you in the right direction to fix your activation problem. You may need to call in to get your Windows activated and the number should be listed during your attempt to activate.

I'm sorry I can't help you more with this problem.

It appears your posting is not Genuine Advantage specific. In order to provide specific support for the issue you describe I would recommend you check your support options available for Windows here:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307890

    I hope this helps,

  • Greg,

I'm not really sure what you mean "your posting is not Genuine Advantage specific".

The link you have supplied takes me to a site telling me how to activate windows, but the problem I have is when I try to activate, the message I get is that my product key is incorrect, so I can't activate.

As the product key I have was put on to my laptop by the PC manufacturer, it should be genuine and correct, so I don't understand why I am experiencing the problems that I am.
