The issue that you encountered on the first restart from the update was that your profile was apparently locked, so Windows loaded the default profile. Performing a system restore brought back your profile, but I suspect that you are now facing a mismatch with OneCare and .Net Framework or the system date and time are wrong.
Check the PC date/time first. If it is wrong, correct it and restart. If it is correct, try to repair .Net Framework:
To repair .Net Framework 2.0 on XP:
Open Control Panel
Select Add or Remove Programs
Locate Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0
Select the entry and when the installer launches, select Repair.
Reboot when it completes.
Alternatively, see this KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306160
To remove a corrupt .Net Framework install, use this tool:

The download of .Net Framework 2.0 can be found here:
To repair .Net Framework 2.0 and 3.0 on Vista, see this blog entry:
If the above does not resolve the problem with OneCare, please contact support:

No it is in the yellow, it asked my earlier to install a missing microsoft update, I downloaded it, restarted my system. But when it came back on everything was set back to manufacturing defaults, plus all of my file were gone. Attempted to restart, no change. So, I retored my PC to yesterday, so everything back to normal, but One Care will not open, just the error report. No info on the report, just says that it cannot open.Thursday, February 12, 2009 6:05 PM

Do let us know what transpires.
SInce OneCare will complain about a missing update eventually, you will need to address that, too. Support for Windows Update issues can be found through here:
