MGADiag Inquiry.

    Question

  • I have been having problems with installing various programs and a Synaptics touchpad driver on my re-installed Vista Home Basic SP1 computer.  This is on a Dell Inspiron Laptop.  After running the MGADiag Tool, I noted many "File Mismatch" line items.  Can someone tell me what could be causing this problem?  Is it possibly the result of installing a Anti-Virus program?

  • There are two likely causes for this problem - we'll try the 'easy' solution first :)

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers

try downloading and installing them from here - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=21730

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

  • Noel,

Thank you for your response.  I downloaded the driver and all of those error messages have gone away.

  • It seems to have worked :)

Unless you have a good reason not to, you should update to Service Pack 2 - it will help prevent such things happening again.
