OneCare can't change your firewall settings at this time. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a paid subscrition for OneCare. I initially received a meesage that my firewall was turned off  When I attempted to turn it on I received the message that OneCare was unable to change the settings. Since that time I have downloaded and run the OneCare Firewall Repar Tool with no success. Uninstalled One Care. Downloaded and ran the OnecAre Cleanup tool. I attemted to Re-install OneCare and received an error 0019-80070643. I found a solution document related to that error and follewed that procedure which once essentially what I had already done. Ended up with the same result and I have spent the hour or so going around incirles looking for live support but could not find it. Now I am both frustrated and angry. How do I get support?

  • Microsoft support believes my problem was caused by data corruption in the OS. I have restored the PC to the original factory image and I am now in the process of re-installing all of my software. I was able to backup all of my data prior to the restore so I did not lose any data. Based on this experience, I am purchasing addition external hard drive space and intend to begin saving a Ghost image of my PC on a regular basis.
