Differences between outlook and web client when adding custom buttons RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings,

We are adding custom buttons to the crm application using ISV and having
issues when users are using both outlook client and web client.

When users use the outlook client – they are not seeing the custom
buttons, and when they close the outlook application and open the web client –
they sometimes see the buttons there and sometimes not.

Deleting the temporary internet files does not solve the issue and there
is some cookie we can delete that sometimes help fixing the issue for the web
    client only.

I am looking for some documentation about customizing buttons and the
differences between the web and outlook client in this context

    Thank you,

    Assaf

  • Hi

Is this happening for particular users or all the users.

Did you check for the security roles marked to these users on the entity with this custom button.

You need to give write access to these users on specific entity with custom button

Also, alongwith clearing cookies, Microsoft says that you need to update registry enteries if user uses both web client and outlook client on same machine:

    See if this helps

  • Hi Assaf,

Are you using CRM 2011 or CRM 4?
