Installing OneCare: error entry point GetProcessID RRS feed

  • Question

  • After installing OneCare successfully on my wife's PC, when I tried to install it on mine I got an error message: The entry point GetProcessId could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll

  • I believe that you are attempting to install to an unsupported operating system, most likely Windows 2000 or Windows 98. OneCare can only be installed on XP (32 bit) or Vista (both 32 bit and 64 bit editions).

Is the XP Home OS updated to SP2?

Are you installing from CD or from http://onecare.live.com?

  • Do you have the latest updates installed for dot net framework 1.1 and 2.0? If not I would update them first.

I had a similar problem and ended up working with OneCare Support to solve this problem. Hope this helps.
