How to disable/remove the URL forwarding to <yourname>.homeserver.com RRS feed

  • Question

  • My homeserver has crashed badly ;-(( and I'm not going to replace it.

I have now setup a NAS that has built in most of the required
functionality and I would like to remove the redirection to <myname>.homeserver.com

How can I accomplish this without a physical WHS? Who should I turn to?

Or does a real WHS need to be alive at least once a period (month?) to keep the URL
forwarding functionality to excist? And is it cleared automatically when no WHS system
    responds?

  • There's no way to remove the redirect, Guido. Eventually (months, certainly, possibly a year or longer) Microsoft will remove a vanity URL which hasn't been updated in some time.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
