WHS 2011 on ZOTAC ZBOX nano VD01 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'd like to buy ZOTAC ZBOX nano VD01 system on which I would install WHS. Based on the hardware requirements I am not sure, if Via nano X2 U4025 64-bit dualcore at 1,2 GHz fits minimum requirements. I would like to know too, if i can use W7 drivers for WHS 2011.

    Thank you.

  • Microsoft publishes the system requirements for Windows Home Server here. Your processor doesn't meet the speed requirement, so Windows Home Server won't install without a config file that turns off requirements checks. Even if you  turn off those checks, you may find that overall performance is lacking, particularly if you need to transcode media on the fly for streaming.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • Minimum requirements state 1 x 1.4Ghz processor, a dual-core 1.2Ghz processor should be plenty assuming Windows home server makes proper use of dual cpu's which I'm sure it would.

In that case you really have 2.4ghz of processing power.  Just my two bob but makes sense to me.
