Importing Qif files RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi folks,

I have been using MS money for years, but always inputted ofx files from my internet bank. This automatically knows which account to update and which new transactions to add, all good.

I have however opened a new account with a new bank and they only offer qif files. Every time i download these it asks me which account i want to update, and then makes me go through all the transactions again hitting accept to enter them all.

Is there anyway to get around this, or am i doing something wrong?

    Thanks

  • QIF format will do that:  it does not have enough information (in particular the transaction id) for tool such as msmoney to figure out which transaction has been downloaded and accepted. One thing that you can do so limit the time range for each download so that they don't overlap

      . download1: from Sept 01 to Sept 15

      . download2: from Sept 15 to Sept 28 ...

Hopefully, you bank let you choose the time range.

  • You may also find Bank2OFX useful to convert QIF to OFX. http://www.bank2ofx.com

  • Most QIF downloads do not contain account number data, but this is requisite for OFX files. You can convert your bank and creditcard QIF (or CSV) file to OFX using iCreateOFX Basic
