insert URL in a field RRS feed

  • Question

  • Helo

I'd like to send an email (WF) alerting the owner of an account when a new incident is created.
I'd like to insert the URL of the incident in the email. For that, I think I have to display the url on a field in the incident form.
Do youhave an idea of the way I can to that ?

  • Not really. The URL stays the same. (http://servername:port/MicrosoftCRM/cs/cases/edit.aspx?id=GUID) Only the record ID changes at the end. You'll need to merge the record ID in your email. As the record is not a field that MS CRM exposes you might need to put the ID in the field.

    hope this helps,

  • Thanks a lot .
I understand the process very well (and I'm furious because I couldn't imagine it by myself :-) )

You tell me to put the id in a field. Ok, but where do you find the ID : I only can get the "case number" which is already on the form  but not the ID : I can't find it : it's not on the form, and it's not on the list of available fields :-(
do you have an idea ?

    thanks a lot

  • The following link provides an example of a custom workflow activity that adds a link to an email.
You should take a look at this one as well.

  • Thanks a lot !
    it seems wonderful :-)

Just a last question : the process is :
    - create a ntext field
    - with WF, populate it writing  "<a href=”http://url”>http://url</a>"
    - with WF create your email adding the field

ok no problem. i did everything, BUT it doens't appear. Are you sure the "<a href=”http://url”>http://url</a> " is the right syntax ?

    thanks again,
    I really appreciate
