need some advice on what microsoft cert to study for as a beginner RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have no current IT experience, but I can assure you I am not illiterate when it comes to IT either. I have an Associates in Information Technology and currently doing a self study on getting the A+ and Net+ certs. I want to eventually work on becoming something along the lines of server/database admin. I want to know which Microsoft certs should I be aiming for, for that type of work. I am leaning towards taking a class in NYC to study the MCITP certification tests to pass exams 70-640, 70-642, and 70-646. I want to know if this is the right step in getting to my goal and if I should go for it even before getting my A+ or Net+ certs. Reason being I have no previous official IT experience is that I have been working for a retail company (Costco) for the past 5 years as a full time manager and you could say I "settled" because it provides a decent salary (65k/year), but It is not the job i want to do for the rest of my life.
