Windows not genuine after update RRS feed

  • Question

  • I purchased the student version of Windows 7 in May of 2011 from microsoft.com and had no problems until now. I downloaded updates last night and today after a few hours of use, I received an error saying my version of windows was not genuine. I attempted to retype the activation key and received the following error : The product key you typed has been blocked from use by Microsoft.

I have only installed this version of windows on one computer.

    Here is my MGAdiag:

  • You need to contact the Microsoft Store where you purchased the software.  Several others reporting a similar problem say that the Microsoft Store had a problem and is resolving this issue.  We know of nothing here we can do.

  • I just wanted to update this thread.

There appears to have been an issue with the Product key Activation/Validation servers that only effected a subset of Digitally Distributed Product keys.

This issue has been corrected and user that were affected by this should no longer be seeing a Non-Genuine/Key Blocked error.

If you do still see this error please try the following:

    1) Reboot and then re-try Activating and/or Validating.

    2) If you still see the issue, please contact Microsoft Assisted Support (at one of the below URLs)
