Forcing upgrade to 2.0 RRS feed

Hi, just finished reading Stephen's entry regarding upgrading to 2.0 from 1.6.  We use one care on all our office PCs. Its a  lot easier to use than anything else we have tried.  Some are already on subscription (8) and the rest will be on subscription soon(5).  The ones we had on trial have automaticlly upgraded to 2.0 the ones on subscription remain on 1.6.  We would like to follow Stephen's instructions on forcing the 1.6 PCs to 2.0.  If we uninstall 1.6 and then install 2.0 will our parameters be reset (ie backup location etc) or will 2.0 leave things as they are?  Also, will forcing the installation of 2.0 make us have to do an initial backup again or will it know to just backup the changes?  The reason we would like to force this is so that everyone is running the same release.

Non related - would be nice if all one care could be controlled from one hub(more than 3 pcs ...

Thanks in advance for your speedy reply.

  • Yes, and yes. Any time you do an uninstall and reinstall, the settings for OneCare are lost and need to be reconfigured, so that means a new backup will need to be configured and run.

And I agree with your wish for more than 3 PCs could be monitored from a single hub on a single subscription.

  • Thanks for the info.  Is there anyway to force the upgrade to happen instead of waiting?  We would really like to have all comps at the same level.  Thanks again.

  • As you may have read in other threads, the upgrades to 2.0 from 1.6 have been temporarily suspended to allow the developers to address several issues that were encountered by customers receiving the upgrades in the first waves of the release. The upgrade is currently not staged for deployment to anyone, so the only way to upgrade right now is via the uninstall/reinstall path, which will reset all OneCare settings for each PC. Once upgrades are enabled again, you still can't force it as the upgrades are staged to accounts over time.
