How to install the Donation Management Solution

Question
-
How do I install the Donation Management Solution on my CRM 2011 account? I downloaded the plugins, but do not know what to do next. I understand there is no user document available (I am already familiar with the features as I deployed the 4.0 version at a customer last year) but need installation guidance. Thanks.

Hi Sheryl,
Here are the steps for installing the solution. These will apply to any solution you download, not just the Donation Management
1. Log into your CRM system using admin privileges
2. Navigate to: Settings -> Customization -> Solutions
3. Click on "Import"
4. Point it to the location of the cab file you downloaded from the marketplace and follow the import wizard
5. Once Import is complete, select the Donation Management solution and click on "Publish All Customizations"You're good to go!

Hi Sheryl,
Installing a new version of the solution (RTW in this case) on an older version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM (Beta) is not supported. You can sign up for an RTW trial at http://crm.dynamics.com.
Thanks

Hi Palak,
The importing solution screen returned 3 rows of results. The first row stated that the import file was invalid - XSD validation failed. The second row showed a successful result for Transform Package. The third row also failed. This was for the Donation Management Solution.
By the way, during the upload of the cab file, there was a notification stating "The Solution Package you are importing was generated on a different version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM. The system will attemp to transform the package prior to import".
Thank you,
Sheryl

Hi Sheryl,
Which version of CRM are you running? Can you try unpacking the cab and just uploading the zip file?
The notification you get is expected because there's a versioning difference between CRM Online and CRM On-premise. So if a solution is built on-premise but being deployed online, it will give you that warning.
Thanks

Hi Palak,
I am running the original CRM Online 2011 Beta version activated last Sept 2010. I tried importing just the zip file but I received the exact same errors. I was told my CRM Online Beta account is valid, with live code.
Thanks,
Sheryl

I have successfully installed the solution into Dynamics CRM 2011 Enterprise Edition - RTM.
Import did display a warning that the solution was created in a different version of Dynamics CRM, but proceeded to import seamlessly and successfully.
The Publish solution also went through seamlessly.
