If you don't know what I mean then your license is likely invalid for your use.
A kms license is only for sale to volume customers.
Where did you get this windows?
if you purchased it demand your money back.

Please use slmgr.vbs /ato to activate and update KMS client information in order to update values.
You must connect to your KMS server for activation. See your system administrator for assistance.

I don't exactly know what you mean. How do you connect to a KMS server and who would be the system administrator?Tuesday, May 8, 2012 8:29 PM

I bought the entire computer secondhand from a friend after he bought a Mac and didn't need this one about a year ago. I don't see what that has to do with having knowledge of what a KMS license is. But thanks.Tuesday, May 8, 2012 11:34 PM

He likely got this license from his place of employment or perhaps his school
This computer likely shipped with windows 7. Check your documentation or your manufacturers website for instructions on how to reinstall using the recovery partition. You can also order recovery disks from your manufacturer.
