Locking down audio in Communicator RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does anyone know if one can lock down the ability to use audio per user or OU?  We have an issue within our organization where we don't want to step on the toes of the phone folks and they are scared MOC sip calls will take away from their revenue, etc...

    Thank you very much for any ideas offered here!

  • You can also use the Communicator.Adm to restrict the use of Audio for certain users

  • In the global Voice properties in OCS you can define Phone Usage profiles and Policies and assign the global Policy to Use per user policy or give all users in the environment the policy by selecting a policy in the drop-down.  You can then control what routes which users are allowed to call over in case you want to limit certain groups of users to local calls only, stopping them from making Enterprise Voice calls out the mediation gateway to a connected PBX system.

    TelephonyMode Telephony Mode Enables Remote Call Control (RCC), Unified Communications enterprise voice telephony, or both. For RCC, you must also set the Office Communications Server 2007 LineServer attribute.

    REG_DWORD 0 = Enable computer-to-computer calling only. No call control is enabled (default).
    1 = Enable enterprise voice telephony features.
    2 = Enable RCC and computer-to-computer calling.
    3 = Enable both enterprise voice and RCC.
    4 = Enable RCC without computer-to-computer calling.
    5 = IM and Presence only; no audio

  • Thanks!  The group policy will actually be how I have it done, I think.  Will setting the telephony setting to 4 enable folks to use Live Meeting audio / video but not make pc to pc calls, then?

  • Actually the Livemeeting client and Communicator have different ADM files
    So setting the option to 5 will not impact Livemeeting
