Cannot not validate my valid XP RRS feed

  • Question

  • About a month ago, I got a nice litte balloon in my XP screen telling me my copy of Windows isn't genuine. I've since emailed Microsoft and they've checked my product key and said it was genuine. The problem is a geographically blocked PID. He said to repair it from the disk which I have done twice. It registers fine. Won't validate. I try to change my product key through Microsoft's link and it says its the wrong product key for this system. I have no problem entering it during setup and its the same one listed in the WGA validation tool. (Last 15 #'s anyway) Its the same one listed on the box on the certificate of authenticity sticker as well. I did double and triple even quadruple check to make sure I entered it right. Anyone have any ideas?

Are you part of a business corporation?

The product key you are using is genuine, *but* only in certain geographical locations specified by the owner of that Volume license.

To help me understand the issue further can you please follow the steps below?

    1. Download and run the WGA Diagnostic Tool  http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

    2. After running the WGA Diagnostic Tool, click on the "Windows" tab and then click on "Copy to Clipboard". Paste the results into your forum response.

    Thanks,

    Greg

Do you have an SR case number for this issue?  I'd like to take a look at any notes the Microsoft rep may have logged on this case so far.

    Thank you,

    Greg

  • The last email I got was that they were closing the case due to no response over several days. I was on vacation so I wasn't near my computer. I've since emailed them and had no response so far.
