I bought an hp computer from very large electronics chain.  I had the xxxx-squad load all the upgrades.  I activated the software when asked to.  I always buy the software and use it according the the eula (sp?); teach my kids to do the same.  I want to download templates.  Fail the validation.  Says I don't have a valid copy of Home student 2007 edition, which is correct, I have office standard 2007 version (bought at time of hp computer purchase).  It seems that I have a valid copy of the office standard 2007.  However, it says that I have conterfit software and I cannot access templates.

What do I need to do to get access to the online templates?

  • Fackourey,

Please run the diagnostic test and post your results here within the thread. Some commercially built systems will be installed with trial software versions of software such as MS Office products. Other versions, such as retail/oem, of Office aren't installed unless you as the customer pays for the product.

As Sairaj requested please provide the diag results @ your earliest convience. This will allow us to analyze the results so we may provide you with a resolve.

  • It is possible that the trial student version was preinstalled on the computer and the Standard version you bought is installed side-by-side.

Try uninstalling the previous version using control panel if you see multiple version of office install there.

  • Harley,

Exactly what happens when you attempt to download the template? Do you receive any error codes or a message detailing errors?

  • I figured out the problem.  I got to the point that the error message was "Access 2007 is not installed on this computer" so the template would not download.  Since I had Access 2007 installed, I wondered if the software was confused as I also had Access 2003 installed.  Sure enough, when I uninstalled Office 2003 including Access 2003, the download worked.  I think that the download check should look to see if Access 2007 is installed even if Access 2003 is still installed on the PC.
