how do i get back my data or files shared? or my whsv2 vail ? RRS feed

    my disk system c: with vail whs v2 crashed , half of disk clusters dead and bootmgr missing.

    i tried to fix with console but no image found, maybe destroyed on the dead clusters!

    i tried to install a new whs v2 on a new hard drive but he does see my data on my 3*1To hard drive, when i check them it tells me that data are here but the system na't read them because it's from another server!

    on disk system C: what is left is to rep  $WINDOWS.^BT  and Windows.old

    how do i get back my files or data on line? there is still some little information of my original disk system , help please !!!!

    The disks from your server's previous incarnation should be showing up as "Non Default Storage". Assuming they are, you can log in to your server's desktop and access them through C:\Non Default Storage 1 (I think; it's close anyhow). There is also a way to mount the "non default storage" in place of your current server storage, but that functionality is somewhat broken in this build.

    If your previous incarnation was the previous build, this build is not able to read those drives at all.

    I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

    You can upload images to a hosting site and link them here. But as I said, if this is from a previous installation of the most recent build of Vail, you should have access to "non defaul server storage", and if it's from the previous build, the data is irretrievable with the current build.

    We aren't going to be able to help you if you don't help us, I'm afraid. So how about those images you wanted to show us?

    But I can tell you that there is no tool other than Vail that will read a drive that was part of a Vail server's server storage..
