For some reason your PC is showing as having an invalid SLIC table - which is what allows a OEM_SLP license to self-activate. Assuming that the COA sticker for your machine shows Vista Home Premium as being the licensed Windows install, and that the key is legible, changing the key to the one on the sticker should work.4
To do that, go to System Properties - at the bottom of the page, you should be given the option to Change Product Key. use that, and then Activate by phone.

  • Hello ssjkouru,

Yes, we know what version of Windows is currently installed, our line of questioning was to find out what version of Windows is Supposed to be installed.  The error message you are receiving says they Product key you have entered is not a Vista key. By asking you what version of Windows is shown on the CoA sticker, we hoped to learn what version of Windows that Product Key is actually good for.

Here is a new question, where are you getting the Product Key you are trying to type in? I assume it's the Product Key listed on the CoA sticker, however, if the CoA sticker is so worn down, are you sure you are typing it in correctly?

At this point, the problem comes down to what version of Windows that key is good for, but since I can't see the key (do not post the key on a public forum) I have no way of knowing.  I suggest contacting support at one of the below URLs and they should be able to identify what version of Windows that key is good for.

According to the COA Sticker on the case of your machine, what Version and Edition of Windows is your machine licensed for?

    ps:coa?

    the Version is XP/Vista/Win 7 - the Edition is Home/Home Premium/Business/Pro/Ultimate etc.

the COA (Certificate of Authority) sticker is attached by the manufacture as proof that you have a valid license for Windows - look here

The question is not something that needs to be guessed at, the Certificate of Authority sticker will tell you exactly what version and edition that computer is licensed for.

This is the question that Noel has asked, what version and edition does the CoA sticker say?
