Sandbox or Staging/Test Environment for CRM 2011 Online

Question

What are the options to setup a staging environment for crm 2011 online? Do we have sign up for two separate organisations and use one as production and other as staging/test? Thanks.

You can setup an onpremise system in a VM and do your customisations there, then import your solution into the online system.

Hi Rhett and Bilal,
How can I setup two organisations? We are partners with MS and thus have one free instance of MS CRM Online 2011. My company doesn't want to pay for an additional test environment. Currently I am using a trial version of MS CRM Online 2011 for test environment. Of course, I can't replicate the data but at least I can test my client-side customization codes. Also, the other disadvantage with a trial account is, I'll have to create a new one every 30 days.
Could you guys think of a better way to implement a test environment with MS Dynamics CRM 2011 Online version?
Any help/suggestions will be truly appreciated.
Thanks,
Niloy

Hi AnkurCrm,
I also have a need to create a CRM test environment & find out 01 artcicle "How to run Dynamics CRM 2011 Virtual Machine on VirtualBox". So if you're a partner with MS, you can download it easily & test it without any trial or additional expenses.
Here's the link of the above article! and here's the link for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Virtual Machine available for partners
Good luck!
Ed
PS: If you can download it, may I have it to try! I'd appreaciate about that!

You cannot set up multiple organizations in CRM Online, only in On-Premise Enterprise. You need to pay for two subscriptions OR, as Rhett points out, you can set up a local on-premise VM for this purpose, which is better for debugging purposes and can be done cheaply if you are a partner with MS.
