I'm using a HP tx2000 tablet PC and my home server is an Acer Aspire easyStore H340. I don't understand why the transferring speed is super slow.
I try to cut or copy and paste a file from a shared folder to another in the home server. The speed I get is 250KB/Sec. When you cut and paste on the
same drive, shouldn't it just do it instantly?
Yes, but this is not the "same drive". This is through network shares and even though they are on the same computer, it still has to "go out and back in" since it's 2 different shares. (If you stay within the same share, then it's instant.)
And when you copy and paste on the same same drive, shouldn't it be really fast too?
Same reason. It's not the "same drive". Network shares don't work like that.
Having said that, 250 KB/sec is still kind of slow (unless your client is using wireless and your connection to your router isn't that great). Are you using wireless? What are your speeds when you copy a file from your client to your server?
