When Removing disk let WHS move\copy all non duplicate files to other disk RRS feed

  • Question

  • I some testing i performed in WHS RC1 i noticed that all non duplicate files (which resided on the disk to bo removed) were not migrated to another disk. There was plenty of diskspace left to facilitate this.

Users will want to replace a disk with a bigger disk. Let's asume that the WHS system has 100GB of free disk space and the disk to be replaced is a 80GB disk. When is remove this disk it should move all non-duplicate files to the other disk(s). When this is done the 80GB disk can be replaced by a bigger disk and the migrator will redistribute the files.

When i tried the above scenario in RC1 i lost all my non duplicate files. Because i removed a second disk (i still had plenty of room left) and the duplicates files were not yet rebuild, i lost all my duplicate files where were stored on this disk as well.
