cantralized parental control RRS feed

I saw Charlie Kindle's mention of the parental control feature being dropped from WHS in the run up to RC1. I think this could be a fantastic feature. I would love to have central control over my kids' access to all PCs on my home network. I would like to be able to:

    1. Have each child use their own Windows logon.

    2. Each logon to have time limits associated with it. e.g. allow 1 hour per day, split into say 30 minute sessions with say two hours between sessions.

    3. Access only allowed at certain time sof the day. With different time limits for each day.

    4. Control over use of games and web sites visited.

    5. A reward scheme that allows parents to allocate extra time for good behaviour.

This is basically the feature list of "ComputerTime" - something I am currently using, but ComputerTime has its own user account system - it does not use Windows accounts. And ComputerTime is not centrally managed on a network.

    Just my 2ps worth

PS I have been in on WHS since Beta2 and think it is a great product that I came at just the right time for me.

  • I would also like to see some kind of logging.  I would love to use WHS as a SMTP relay/POP proxy that logs the EMail traffic of my kids.  I'd also love to log IM traffic etc byt I think that that is hver SSL so it probably cannot be done.

BTW:  Windows Vista has reasonable Parental controls.  Just not the logging I want.
