Page cannot be displayed when signing into technet RRS feed

    Hi

    I have a strange issue.

    I cannot sign into the technet forums using my main Windows Live ID. I can sign into hotmail with it no problems. When I click Sign in it comes up page cannot be displayed.

    I also cannot sign into Technet forums on other PC's or even on my home PC through my own broadband connection.

    I can sign in using another Live ID hence being able to post this question so it seems the issue is with my Live ID but strange that I can sign into hotmail ok.

    Any ideas anyone?

    I had the same problem.  I created a new ID with a different email.  Sigh.

    Can't repro. The Sign in process has been improved. Seems to be fixed.

    I experienced this issue today.  I had done the following to create it:

    I was changing my technet profile name and my signature on the forums.  I'm fairly sure, not 100% though, that these were the order of operations that jacked and un-jacked my forums.

    1. changed my profile display name to something other than what was shown in various threads within the forums (e.g. previous name was "the StaceMeister", using either technet.microsoft.com profile editor or via social.technet.microsoft My Profile link [not view profile])

    2. after the change in step 1, the profile appeared forums display name not in agreement with profile display nameas shown here, where the display name on the technet profile was different than that shown on the forums. Once that happens then all the other links work, with exception of the forums. 

    3. changed technet profile back to what Social.technet.microsoft profile was, fixes the issue.

    4. Cant seem to change Technet Displayname and then access forums, unless Display name matches the display name that was used when previous threads were posted.

    5. also when the two are out of sync, and you try and sign into forums, you recieve an compilation error page that advises to change the debugging options to a custom web config.

    6. Answer = change the profile display name to match the name that your profile was listed at on recent posts.  e.g. I had posts when the display name was The StaceMeister, if the display name is changed to Stacy Simpkins, for example.  then forums does not work and throws compilation error, changing the display name back to the stacemeister and forums and all other technet pages work.  Not that the other pages didnt, because they worked even when the forums threw the error (when they were in disagreement)

    This appears to be resolved by changing the name in your social to the name in your technet, or vice versa, and then refresh on the source page, then on the target.
