W32.Myzor.FK@yf Not Being Removed by Line OneCare - Why? RRS feed

  • Question

  • My laptop has been infected with W32.Myzor.FK@yf  I have Trend Micro Internet Security and it did not detect the virus.  I then installed Live OneCare and it has not detected teh virus.  However, everytime I open up Internet Explore a warning comes and notes that the virus is in my laptop.  It also automatically directs me to puresafetyhere.com which is not my browser.  I have gone to other spyware systems and they detect the problem, but, my two systems (i.e. Trend Mirco and OneCare do not detect it.  How do I remove this virus without purchasing another virus program?  Thanks.

  • First of all, remove one your security programs as having Trend Micro and OneCare will not resolve your issue and may cause additional problems. If you are a licensed user for Trend Micro, contact them for support. If you choose to use OneCare over Trend Micro, contact OneCare support for help with removal -

  • I, too, have been infected with a worm (W32/Rbot-AAM) and I'm a customer of Trend Micro.  I've used Trend Micro, Nod32, Mcafee, Norton, spybot and all the other anti-virus programs, but nothing has helped!  I don't know all that much about computers, but all I know is that I have a worm on my computer and none of the programs that I try are solving the problem.  What can I do?  Will OneCare help me?

  • Based on the starting post of this thread, I don't know if I would recommend going through the uninstall of one program to try OneCare.

You really should contact Trend Micro support for help.

You can try some free online scanners, including the OneCare Safety scanner which uses the same signatures as OneCare.

  • After installing OneCare the scan reveled two Viruses. A Worm Netsky.P mm and Trojan Bagle.BU. I've followed ALL the recommended corrective measures including the OneCare Safety which I downloaded from www.safety.live.com and 8 hours, yes 8 hours later it reported my laptop was clean. So just to be sure I ran another scan from the OneCare program I installed from the CD I paid for. It showed the two viruses were still on my system.

So I called the number above and requested assistance. The technician said I needed to call [deleted] for virus removal help. After 45 minutes of hearing "the next available agent etc" I hung up.

So where do I go from here?

    Got any suggestions OneCare?

  • The technician was incorrect in sending you away. Yes, as a OneCare subscriber, you should call OneCare support for help with an infection that was missed, but the general antimalware line is also appropriate. You also, unfortunately, encountered a miserable long wait time for OneCare support.

Your next choices are to try OneCare support again or to call the other number and hope to get a more cooperative technician.
